Lunar Design Announces CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards for Client Work

Lunar Design, a 22-year-old world leader in creating successful, memorable products for the consumer, technology and medical industries announces four wins in CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards today.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 10, 2007 -- Lunar Design, a 22-year-old world leader in creating successful, memorable products for the consumer, technology and medical industries announces four wins in CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards today.

Four of Lunar's clients, HP, UPEK, SanDisk and Novint were awarded Innovations Awards for their entries in this year's competition, recognized for outstanding consumer electronics by the independently juried International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards.

"We are all honored to have been a part of the development of these products," comments John Edson, president of Lunar Design. "For us, this recognition is further evidence that design creativity continues to make a difference in our clients' products for the benefit of their customers and stakeholders."

At CES Lunar's work shows a strong presence this week with clients HP and SanDisk unveiling their latest products to the public.

"SanDisk is launching the exciting Contour USB Flash Drive," said John Edson. "Like SanDisk's successful Cruzer line, the SanDisk Cruzer Contour uses a sliding motion to expose the USB connector rather than relying on a detachable cap that can easily be lost. The revolutionary push-pull slide action reveals and conceals the USB connector with panache: the sleek design and cool metallic finish makes the Contour a stylish, and elegant personal luxury accessory. This is a case where our creative teams of designers and engineers worked hand in hand to make this desirable product possible."

The following Lunar client projects were awarded the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Innovations Awards:

HP Laptops: Hewlett-Packard looked to Lunar to design graphics for their Pavilion entertainment notebooks dv2000 that appealed to the consumer lifestyle market where desire for luxurious materials and textures now extend to a consumer's choice in technological products. Lunar set out to design an iconic and engaging pattern that would offer customers a rich personal experience with their notebook computers.

UPEK Eikon Fingerprint Reader: Lunar contributed to the reader's ergonomic design, making the Eikon not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing to the user. The UPEK took the 'Best of Innovations' Award in the biometrics category, recognized for its high security capabilities and innovative design.

SanDisk V-Mate: A video recorder that lets you take media on the go, the SanDisk V-Mate allows you to view your favorite videos and shows wherever and whenever you want. The user records analog content directly onto a flash memory card which can then be inserted into any compatible mobile device. Lunar helped SanDisk create a sleek and user-friendly device, making the V-Mate a desirable media companion.

Novint Falcon: Lunar spearheaded the industrial design and engineering for the Novint Falcon, a groundbreaking high-fidelity interactive 3D touch controller working closely with Novint and commercial haptic developer Force Dimension. The Novint Falcon is the first 3D touch device developed for the consumer market and lets users feel weight, shape, texture, dimension, and force effects when playing touch-enabled PC games.
